I usually use Avid but have a Macbook pro now for RED stuff and I don't know how to set it up for P2 footage. Could someone direct me to the plug ins or codecs I need please?

Thanks

Not sure what you mean by "set it up for P2 footage". If the camera has Firewire, you can just connect via f/w, settinh the camera in 1394 Device mode (or whatever your camera may call it), turn on the camera to mount the card, and drag the files to the HDD. no drivers required. htere are other apps, such as P2CMS, and others but I don't use them.

As far as codecs, etc., that depends on the NLE. For a Mac, if you are using FCS (5.1 or later), it is already set up to ingest P2 as QT files. There are other apps like Raylight that use the native MXF files.

I have all the files on a drive already and had edited this on another mac. When I try to open the project here all the screens are white and the audio doesn't play.

Nevermind. I have to get p2cms to get it to work.

sounds like a codec missing from the second machine. did you get it to work?

The machine, as Dick observes, is missing the DVCProHD codecs, which are installed by FCP6.
