I wonder if there is any hardware update to come fixing the datarate issue with the PHU-60K.
I'm very happy about recording to a 60GB harddisk insted of the expensive SxS cards, but it doesn't make sense to connect the 800 MBit/s adapter to the harddisk by a 400 MBit/s USB - resulting in impossibility to record in Q&S-Mode on the disk.

Why not save a fortune and record to cheap SDHC cards go for this http://e-films.com.au/ or the KxS solution. Lots of threads on the forum regarding this, Check out Guy Barwoods website. http://www.xdcamexinfo.com/SDasSxS/index.htm:)

I have KXS going strong with 4 16 gigger cards and the original 8 SXS card to give me about 4 hrs plus at 1080 30P. It all costs about $300 or so. You can't beat this price point ~ the transcend 16G cards are about $25. That's the ticket !!!

Thanks for the quick reply.
My problem is that I need to film a lot of overcranked material. As far as i know the adaptersystems with SD cards can't manage f.e. 60fps overcranking at 25p

You are correct, the only media that can sustain 25p @ 60FPS is genuine SxS. Even if such an update came (which I doubt as it is likely a physical limitation, not just firmware) it would also allow KxS to do full overcranking as well, the good SD media has the write data rate to support it.

My guess its the usb hub that can handle the data rate not the drive itself.

Right, the USB-device can't handle the datarate. So why doesn't sony replace it with firewire800?

...because they want you to buy lots of expensive SxS cards?
