OK, so when using 730 30pn I cannot get 1/15 shutter speed, because it needs to be in film camera mode. I can use synchro scan to get the shutter to 350d, which looks like it gives perhaps a tad more motion blur, but not much to be noticeable.

I want the 1/15 shutter speed blur-streaks effects... but I also want the slow motion 60p effect.

So I switched to 720p60p mode, where I was able to switch to 'video cam" mode and enable 1/15 shutter speed. Then in post, I used Apple's Cinema Tools and conformed the 59.94fps material to 29.97 and dropped it into a FCP timeline.

My question is, is this playing back at true 60 progressive frames per second (over crank) along with the slow shutter effect? Or is the same as taking 30pn footage, enabling 1/15 shutter, and then slowing it to 50% in post?

Is this the proper way to achieve slow shutter with 60p? Is there a better way?

Is there anyone who can answer this?

Barry Green, you out there? :)

weird transformation from you part,

actually i was mistaken, that works only on multipliers of 23.97 or 24, sorry. for 59.76 to 23.97 half the frames won't align, and would need to be created or misplaced but it's far better than 30 or 29.97 where all the frames would need to be created or misplaced.

What you're trying to achieve is impossible. If you use a shutter speed of 1/15, then you are getting no more than 15 frames per second (a unique frame every 1/15). If you're shooting 60P at 1/15 shutter, you won't get over cranked slow mo... You'll instead get 15 unique frames per second with each frame recorded 4 times.

So is there any difference in look between shooting 1/15 shutter in 720p60 VS 30pn? Other than having the frame doubled in 30p and quadrupled in 60p?

Also, conceptually... so basically, the higher frame rate you get, it is impossible to achieve slow shutter speeds? I.E if recording at 240fps, do you inherently lose a lot of motion blur then, simultaneously giving over cranked footage the same look as high shutter speed footage?

If so, is there anyway around that? (not just with the HVX, but any camera, real or feasible, conceptually speaking?)
