I'm hoping you can help. All of the sudden my HVX200 remote will not work and any time I press any of the buttons on the remote, like "Record" or "Start/Stop" an icon pops up on the lcd screen saying " remote - I " ???!!! What's the deal?

Why don't you visit the Panasonic / support site?

Have you taken a look at the manual with the respect to this issue?

Is the word "remote" appearing in Red in the LCD?

If so, there are several pages in the manual that deal with this.

Yes, that is appearing. I didn't seem to find anything on it in the manual tho? I'll go digging again. Thanks.

page 114 and page 19.

it appears that the remote is set up incorrectly.

David,

The OP specifically asked for Barry's help on this. Please respect his wishes by staying away from this thread. :D

Found in other functions that the remote setting was turned off. Thanks for all the hints guys. Really helpful...

Boy, I'm real sorry.

All I did was go to the manual, do several searches, found two pages that dealt with the issue and then tried it on my cam and remote as well to see if it worked, and then reported the exact pages rather than typing it out.

I really am sorry for trying to assist.

:)

FWIW, page 19 indicates that you need to set the remote correctly in the Other Functions menu. That was noted in my second post.

In all seriousness, I think it's better to simply refer to the manual, than retype.

Given that I lost two finger tips in an accident four years ago, it's an issue for me at at least.

best

Well, I thought the big smiley would have let you all know that I was being sarcastic.

I'm glad you responded, but if people have questions, it'd be nice if their thread was about the question, not "Hey, Jan!" or "A Question for Barry". It may surprise some to know that there are people on the boards who know (almost) as much about these cameras as Barry and Jan.

I know you were kidding. And I'm not taking issue with you, just the approach the some OPs take when they post only to a specific person.

It kinda makes the rest of us feel like we don't know anything.

heck half the time when I see an issue, I try to solve it so it doesn't present a problem for me in the future.

But, no biggie and take care.

Well, Jack Daniel Stanley's moving to Austin, so why not you, David? There's plenty of barbecue and Shiner Beer for everyone.

I don't know anything, so I'm not hurt by it.

I'm fairly certain I know less than you, so that puts me in a deficit. The implications are already hurting my brain. :)
