Requirements for HD?

I was just wondering what exactly is required to run HD on a pc. My computer at the moment cant run HD. Even when I'm editing on my computer through Premier pro the icon pops up saying my virtual memory is too low. Right now my computer has:

Intel Quad core
Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT
2 gigs or ram.

I thinking I probably need more ram. But what kind and how much more?

Two GB is low, but it should still work. My previous machine worked with 1.5 GB.

You may have a full hard disk, though.

Actually I have around 500 gb of free disk space.
