So, Most of my exterior toggle switch controls now give me this message when i wanna switch WB, Gain, Etc "cannot proceed" . Anyone had this Happen to them? Im sending the EX-1 back in a few weeks anyway for some handle damage, paint flaking, and firmware update, but this lil error message kinda freaks me out.....

It's all in your manual.
Check your Direct Menu settings...

already tried that, even reset all the cameras settings to default, and still gettin the error, but i can change the settings via the scroll wheel no probs, just not the toggle buttons
Check again and ensure your Direct Menu is set to 'part', then try the switch's again.

yup, that basically let my white balance button work again, which was also disabled (the front execute button) guess its time for sony to get their hands on it neway to fix all the other crap, glad its still under warranty.......it should be noted, however, that i abuse the hell outta my cameras while simultaneously babying the hell outta them, which makes no sense, i know, but i do a TON of run 'n gun out of a backpack in the middle of.....wherever......

One challenge with the EX1, especially if you "Run&Gun" is the fact that the buttons are small and crammed together, making it real easy to accidentally press one...and not know it. Similar situation: I couldn't figure out why most of my settings would change right after I had gone into the menus and manually changed them... and then, Pop, they would change back. I knew it had to be something higher up the menu hierarchy to do that but just couldn't figure it out. UNTIL... I noticed my knuckle had accidently hit the "Full Auto" button. Tah Dah!!!
