I've been having a problem using FCP 6.0 to log and transfer my clips. Until now, I've had to use iMovie to capture my footage. It seems to be working for the time being, but I would prefer not to use iMovie at all, and am concerned that their default compression settings aren't giving me the best quality I could be getting from the footage.
After I have my card reader set up on my new intel iMac, I open FCP and attempt a log and transfer. Initially there are no files visible, so I click the add button on the top left corner of the log and transfer window. I then locate my card reader and attempt to add the files to the log and transfer window. This never works. I've tried several different ways, from adding the entire avc hd file, to the mts files themselves. The mts files appear translucent so I am unable to click on them at all. The folders I can select, but when I attempt to import them I get an error message every time saying that I can't bring in the files.
Has anyone else experienced this? I don't know if it's just my version of FCP or maybe I need to manipulate a setting before I attempt a log and transfer.. Any suggestions??
