I don't work in the industry (proper) but I believe some of you do. Curious if you've seen, and what you think about SaveTheBiz.org, and their site (http://www.savethebiz.org/). I don't get it (other than the generality), so maybe someone can clue me in.

I'm not sure what Cromwell (for SaveTheBiz/LA County) expects? I mean, let's look at the WGA strike he mentions. It's believed by many the WGA got the short end of the deal, even caved. Either way, in many ways it insured that the studios (as opposed to the workers) continue to get a much larger share of the pie. So is Cromwell expecting SAG to cave the same, thus doing so quickly will help other workers? Or is this meant for the studios to look at? And if they do, what makes one think they'll give in as well? Especially after their victory over WGA? This is compounded because SAG east and SAG west are split, and even forming factions.

Another factor, not addressed in the slightest, is that just like the rest of Corporate America, the studios are all owned by large corporations, controlled by CEO's answering to shareholders. As we've told our society over and over for the last 30 years, the way to get by today is not to work harder, but to get as much money as you possibly can as quickly as possible, damn the repercussions. So, by and large across the economy shareholders have over and over demanded large, quick profits from the companies they control. And politicians and economists that advise them have repeatedly told us (and set the rules to encourage) that this is good, this equals growth, this builds the economy.

So, I ask again. What does Save the Biz expect to happen? What are they asking? Do they expect SAG to accept this model and cave in to it? Or are they expecting the shareholders and CEO's that control the companies to all of a sudden change their ways?

As an aside, watch the 1st AD in that clip. It's for the camera, sure, but what a great job she does.
