Hello,
I'm a freelance shooter in Los Angeles and I have a producer who's interested to shoot a pilot of a reality series in Europe and the Middle East. I come from a Panasonic background and admire the line of cameras from Panasonic. I, myself, own a DVX100B. However the producer wants to shoot this with a Sony camera and preferably HD.
So which camera would be more cost effective to shoot with for a pilot of a reality series? The Z1U or the Z5U? I'm open to other suggestions as long as the camera records to tape and shoots widescreen at 24p. I've heard the Z1U can't compare to the abilities of the Z5U in low light. Is it noticable in the editing room?
Also I'm looking for individuals who own these cameras to rent for 10 days. The best rate I've gotten is $500 for 10 days at EVS in Burbank for the Z1U. I'm obviously looking for something lower in price and please list any extras included in your rental submission.
Thanks!
