Hello,
I concider buying the hpx170, but it depends on some features. To describe one of the intended scenarios:

Connect the HPX170 directly to computer using firewire, and use e.g. microsoft expression encoder to stream (to the internet) what the HPX170 is filming live (in other words a live stream).
Is the HPX170 capable of delivering a live videostream over firewire to the PC? (SD)

The reason I ask is also because I read somewhere that the firewire connection on the hpx170 is intended for mac, and only for transferring files etc. So I'm a bit confused.

And my second question: if so, is it capable of doing HD record to P2, at the same time? (sending SD stream over firewire, and capturing HD on P2). - I read about the downconvert feature to component and sdi, but I really can't find information about firewire.

Hope you understood my question, it's not so easy to formulate this technical terms for a non english user :)
thanks for helping out!

regards

Dick Campbell

The HVX200 does all that you ask. I presume the HPX170 is similar from what I've read so far.

thanks for responding so quick. hopefully this is similar between hvx200 and hpx170, but if someone could confirm I would be very happy.
