Old Stories - watch in HD: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nupu3Xogv0o
HMC150.
Shot in Scene File 1, PH 720p30.
Transcoded to ProRes HQ; exported through FCP QT Conversion to H264.
Color correction in FCP.
We didn't bring in any lights - just used what was in the people's apartments. Two person crew - camera & sound.
These are three people from the feature documentary about life in old age that we're shooting currently (in 7th week of production: http://lifeswaltz.blogspot.com). This was made for Project Direct 2009, so it contains a red telephone and a couple of other chosen required objects.
Enjoy!

Why did you shoot in 30p instead of 24p?
Are you planning on exhibiting it on film in theaters? or just digitally?

We are shooting and shot in 30p because it's a documentary, and we want for a poppier/livelier feel as opposed to a more filmic/dramatic 24p feel.

I really wonder why so many people actually shoot in 24p or WANT to shoot in 24p. In my opinion 24p is a relict from the past and it should be abandoned like interlaced recording.
Here is some good reading:

I don't know... for the most part 24p looks like utter shyte to me but hey!
That's just my 100% correct opinion! :-Laugh(DBG)-1
I actually think 24p does have it's place but I really like 30p much better.
The whole frame rate thing is indeed a relic and will be supplanted and surpassed.
I even started a lively thread about it not too long ago.
Do a search and you can see how hot the topic was/is!

 Actually this frame rate has been chosen because it was the lowest rate that would still give a sense of motion. Many people think film look has got something to do with 24p.

For the most part.
We have beaten this horse to death and then into a fine smear suitable for the highest quality bagel.
But it is a very interesting subject and only time will tell what the market will bare.
