Canon 5D mark II vs Red One

Red One won overall with more dynamic range and more tweakable but the canon ate the Red One alive in low light! That is something to seriously consider when shooting a movie. 5D would actually be one of my top choices for horror or outdoors low light stuff.

Yeah I saw this too, and it's very clear they dropped the ball on lensing and setting up the 5D. I got more raw clips from my friends production today that are far far better than what they got.



Here are some in studio tests done by a group of photographers. It's far superior than what is posted above.

they didn't set up the contrast in the 5d, but look at the focal length of the same lens on the 5d and the red, the widest master prime would look almost telephoto, and the low light.

even when they got white balance wrong, and didn't change the factory contrast settings, look at the actual color of the shirt, compared to what they got with red, red missed the color by a mile.

they got the exposure wrong on the hand and used the highest iso settings on the low light, i wonder what manual settings do they want when they set up everything wrong.....
