Haha. That's cool. Not sure what it is or what it means but I see it's your avatar.
Is this maya? The heaters look cool. The tubes with the full metal shields appear to be floating off the surface. Not sure if that's intended.

It's the beginnings of a new animated opener for my demo reel. This is about 25% of it...

Is this maya?

Lightwave.

I haven't yet done the sockets and harness that actually connect the tubes and capacitors, so right now, yeah, they're doing the magic 3D floaty thing.

Thanks, guys.

I'm starting to fear that, aside from Raptor and triple, no one else thinks this is even salvageable...

Looks cool to me. I tend not to comment on abstract WIPs as I don't know where they're going.

I guess that make sense.

Some nixie display tubes for another portion of the intended design. Themselves not quite done yet, but the wire grids and filaments and glass look about right, to me.

That looks really cool. I like how you can see the filaments for all the numbers. Great detail, totally sells it.

Oooh im impressed too - i thought from the subject title this was going to be one of the most boring 3d threads here! Oh how do i make a tube hehe!

But on the contrary some very pretty artwork!

Pretty cool man. Looks vintage, kind of like something out of the game Bioshock. Good work

if I can ... the tubes look fantastic. Their gray base and the light rolling around is kind of "cheap" compared to the tubes. Maybe some metal chrome for the base ?
What about the top of the glass tube to be used as light element in the circle ? Probably using more glass then the brown color would do.
Sorry if I am not able to express it more clearly :)

I love it. Glowing tubes are the coolest things in the world to me. I always wanted some vintage head with those mean things glowing at out from under the grill cloth.

But I don't think the reflected image in the center works very well. The blue or the sky clashes (for me) with the warm orange and brown tones you have going on everywhere else.

Just caught that final render. It's looks way better than I could get from C4D and never would have thought that was a lightwave render. Was there much post CC work done on it by any chance? It looks terrific.

No post or CC work at all; it's a straight Lightwave 9.5 Quicktime render.

Gotta have that Khruschev seal of approval...

...hey, now I know what all those food packages with the little circled "K" on them are! They're Khruschev-approved!
