First, I am new to this forum and I am a new owner of a HMC150. So hello everyone.

Going tapeless is quite interesting. I am tring to find some software that will allow me to copy the .MTS files from the card to a hard drive and rename them at the same time. Is anyone aware of something that does this. Ideally, it would allow you to optionally save the folder structure of the "to" and "from" file path so you don't have to enter it each time and allow you some flexibility in renaming the file being copied.

I have scanned the internet, probably missed something, and I scanned this site as best I could.

By the way, it was amazing how much I learned from this site and how it influenzed my decision to buy this camera. I was dead set on a Sony Z5 until someone suggested I take a look a the 150. I am so glad I did. Thanks.

P2CMS is a free Panasonic program that does that with the HVX200 and any p2 format stuff. I would think that it could be done with the HMC150 as well.

Are you on a Mac or a PC?

Because there is Adobe Bridge, and several other utilities available for batch renames.

Thanks guys. I will take a look at the Panasonic program and I have Bridge, but I have never had a need to use it. I will check it out.

Thanks

Unfortunately, neither of those seem to do what I need, or I suppose, want. I will have to keep looking. If anyone comes up with a solution, I would love to take a look. Thanks!

It turns out I didn't look deep enough into Bridge. It does do exactly what I needed. If you go to the Tools menu, the Rename function will handle a copy or move and rename at the same time. Perfect!
