Hey everybody..

ive got a question concerning blueray encoding.. ive been studying up recently on bluray.. its framesizes codecs etc.. and i have found that the standards are..

High Definition Video
1920x1080x59.94i, 50i (16:9)
1920x1080x24p, 23.976p (16:9)
1440x1080x59.94i, 50i (16:9) AVC / VC-1 only
1440x1080x24p, 23.976p (16:9) AVC / VC-1 only
1280x720x59.94p, 50p (16:9)
1280x720x24p, 23.976p (16:9)

Standard Definition Video
720x480x59.94i (4:3/16:9)
720x576x50i (4:3/16:9)

my question is.. if i shoot something on my hvx .. lets say 720p and i want to render out for bluray 1280x720 25p .. would that be possible? 25p doesnt seem to be a standard.. its got 50p and 50i .. but what about 25fps progressive?

thanx

its an optical disc format standard, the codecs it uses from my knowledge are, mpeg-2, mpeg-4 and h.264

And VC-1...

To the OP, no 25p is not a supported framerate from what I remember so you'll have to slow your footage down to 24p.

Why is it bad? Hollywood has been this way forever. You don't think you get separate 25p film releases from the States do you? Slowing 25 down to 24 will seem natural to your audience.

true.. but on the other hand.. wouldnt that mean more processing to slow the 25 down to 24? and also wouldnt it effect the motion? I ask because ive never done that before.. would i use a plugin or something to slow it down ?

25p will be fine at 50i, just like 30p footage is fine under 60i.

Export 25p footage in 50i for bluray 1080i.

or you can do 50p if for 720p.
