Any thoughts on what to do here? I should probably just send it in to Nikon right? Obviously the camera is very new, bought in September.

Can't say for the D-90 but the Olympus E-3 has a pixel mapping feature in the menu that drives dead pixels away for good. maybe check your manual for that feature.

Never mind...I just Googled it and Nikon does not include this feature, seems it may have to go in for service:(

When you send it to Nikon, they do exactly what Mino says. They don't actually replace the CCD, they just map the pixel. Also, most PP software can fix this automatically from what I've heard......although I've never had a dead pixel to try it on.

I would still say it's worth it to send it to Nikon for service.

Guess it's a stuck or hot pixel, not a dead pixel. It's a bright blue/green + sign in shape at high ISO and becomes a dull grey when shooting at low ISO's. If it were dead it would just be black.

A guy at Nikon requested I send him a few unaltered images of the problem, so I will be hearing back from them tomorrow.

Hey Andrew,

I had the same problem on the first Nikon D90 I bought from Best Buy on the day the camera came out.

It was a + sign of pixels that changed colors depending on what I was taking pictures off. I had to nearly fight with the Best Buy people to take it back because they couldn't believe it. I actually brought pictures in from the D90 on a usb key so I could show them where it was because the rep was trying to zoom in on the camera lcd to see the +. Can you believe that? Trying to find 5 pixels out of over 12 million on the camera lcd!?

Anyways they finally took it back and I didn't get another D90 until last week. I wonder if it's a common problem. Keep us updated on what the Nikon rep says

Best,
Andy

That's crazy. They didn't charge you to fix it right? What was your shipping cost?
