View Full Version : Zoomed in Vignetting

At the beach randomly shooting some seagulls, i was reviewing the footage not long ago, and on some of the zoom shots, you can see then vignetting of the lens, only when OIS is on:

Its strange, I'll run a few more tests in brighter light and then with no OIS

Any Thoughts?

some more of this vignetting, this is all the way zoomed in, notice it a few seconds in, when I zoom in all the way

Well that's how OIS works and when you zoom all the way in you're magnifying the frame and causing the OIS to see the edges of the lens in order to stabilize. Also you would only see this on a computer monitor- i.e. where TV safe overscan is displayed. On a regular TV monitor it would not be visible- which is how it's designed.

What should we do?

Don't use OIS.

I know, that doesn't sound like much of a help, but that's the only way. Either use a tripod... or think of this as an opportunity to practice how steady you can hand hold the camera
