is there such a thing as 1080 native?
is it going to be in Manhattan LCDs?

I don't think a full 1080p screen at that size exists. Also, at that size 1080 is irrelevant over 720 anyways due to extreme pixel density, that's pretty much been proven all the way up to 42".

There are 1080p native lcd avalible, but only for large sizes 22" and up.

Three years ago, Sanyo was going to come out with a 8" 1080p native panel. I took that with a grain of salt.... still not out.

Should've come with a manual; It's a couple of pages.

Ok, the only manual i received was the "myPower All PLus" for the Tek-Battery. (sigh)

Just used my Manhattan 8.9 inch in a factory setting on my jib crane. It worked flawlessly and was extremely helpful while judging focus and framing and I must say the color balance was not all that bad either. I had my Tekkeon battery velcro'd to the back of the monitor. I wish I had a spare cable though for the Tekkeon, just for insurance. The one that plugs into the battery, with the other end going to the monitor...Can those be purchased separately? That battery lasted the entire day without being re-charged.

Also, I tried my battery that powers my Varizoom 7 inch TFT monitor and that works just fine also.

Has anybody used this for color correcting in Color? Or is this more for monitoring while shooting?

Yes they can. As a matter of fact I just ordered a spare from them. Check out the site they have other options for cables. I have two batteries and use them for the monitor as well as my zylight.
I also use mine with my kessler but keep the batteries in a meter pouch I bought at Home Depot.

I am in the market for an LCD for my 170. I am curious what the warranty & return policy is for the Manhattan LCDs?

Thanks.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9183322&st=targus&lp=10&type=product&cp=1&id=1218049005741

Fits the 8.9" monitor perfectly and I store the Tekkeon battery in the outer compartment. Not enough room to throw in the monitor and Tekkeon AC adapters, but otherwise a perfect fit.

Just got my shade in the mail today. It works as promised, almost: the drill pattern on my R side plate is off by 3/16". I'll be sending that piece back tomorrow.

Comments on the build: The shade is composed of 4 separate plastic plates attached by 2 plastic thumbscrews/plate. Not exactly the most durable accessory and not a quick on/off but OK for the price.... the thumbscrews will be the weak link in that they will eventually cross-thread. The mailing envelope could use an oversized cardboard to protect it better in shipping... mine was pretty battered when it got here. There is a stubborn adhesive strip in the middle of each plate, probably used to hold matching pairs together at the fabricators.

These minor issues aside, it's nice to have a custom shade ... for any outdoor shooting in daylight, the monitor is pretty useless without it.

Thanks for the nail polish remover suggestion. I was thinking about rubbing alcohol or Goop adhesive remover but they can sometimes react with certain synthetic materials.

We are developing a 7V/12V battery adapter to power the monitor off the HVX batteries (also Sony L and Canon). The first few pieces will be available hopefully in the next 1 or 2 weeks. Anybody is interested in helping us out with testing the first pieces to verify the run time, etc.? It will look similar to EX-V (www.dolgin.net/EX-Vadapter.htm) adapter with a short cable at the end, will also have a power indicator to indicate charge level, and a few other nice features like soft start and electronic overload protection to make sure the battery is safe and not overloaded.

I took my 89a out on it's maiden voyage. After shooting Part I of my web series without any monitor, I'm glad to say this thing performed like a champ. I got the addition Tekkeon battery for it and had way more than enough juice even after a full day of shooting. Very nice.

Might have to check out this sun shade.

I see people using the velcro idea for their tekkeon batteries and mounting them behind the monitor. Does this add any crazy weight problems with the monitor? I have my monitor mounted on the left arm of my RR shouldermount with their mount and the monitor placement works fine, but I never know what to do with the battery. I also have the second battery add-on for the tekkeon and think that it might be a tough heavy for the velcro idea.

Anyone mounting their battery differently?

i use RR micromount to mount this LCD on RR shouldermount and use velcro for the tekkeon (3 adhesive stripes), works just fine; no weight issues.

couple of batteries may be a bit overkill

I picked up a similar case based on your post:

TDC007US | Targus Sport 10.2” Ultra Mini Laptop Case
http://targus.com/us/product_details.asp?sku=TDC007US

$20 new. Picked one up for $9 on ebay.

It's a perfect fit, and you can slide the MLCD monitor hood plates into the inner sleeve. The 12V adapter will fit in the outside pocket, too. This is a good solution.

Now, I'd like a nice case for the Tekkeon and the accessories including an old laptop charger (note that the 3700 does not include a charger ... go figure).

Hi all

I got one of the earlier version of manhattan 10.9 monitor. Is it any different from the 8.9 version? I am using the 12V battery pack and I have never run out of power till to date. In shoot I attach the monitor to a light stand or use the Swit swivel on my dolly or crane.

How do i attach Pix to show my monitor set-up?

Attention all manhattan lcd users....
We are having some compatibility issues with the tekkeon mp3700 battery pack. more specifically the auto voltage sensing feature of this battery. it has been overshooting the voltage on our monitors as high as 20v causing dammage to our screens. if you recently purchased a kit with the MP3700 auto sensing battery option you can send us back the battery and we will exchange it for a mp3450 model. if you have any questions please email us at sales@manhattanlcd.com

Friend, I specifically asked you this question on this forum a few weeks ago, because it seemed to me that the 3700 required a feeder voltage from the external device to sense its delivery voltage. You said that you tested the 3700 and it was fine (post #232). I have a 3700 here that I bought from Amazon based on your statement ... it's never used, but no longer have the original blister pack. Any chance of your swapping this for a 3450?

Can the manhatten lcd output any signal or are those all inputs?

Just two quick questions Vinny.

1. Do you have "C" versions coming in PAL or available now?
2. Can I power the LCD from my D-tap (this has been asked before) from a pro camera
V-mount battery. This may be from 10.9v to 14v depending on the charge.

Thanks,
Peter

1. The C will be available in PAL, but still need a few weeks, waiting on new software.
2. The monitor requires 12v regulated power, we are getting battery plates for the monitor very soon that includes a power regulator. D-tap is not recommended due to the range of voltage.

The Tekkeon battery is the best option for the monitor, the 3450 will run the monitor for 4-5 hours.

Hi, is it you, who bought it from Sigma4Less, and now wants to return it?
David told me about it, and I'd like to know what reason do you have? http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/images/icons/icon7.gif

I've got one for myself, to use with Canon 5D Mark II, and try it, but with video-cable, ( I don't have HDMI cable yet) , but I hope it will be even better....

Actually 5D2 in RECORD-mode gives us only 480i resolution, not 1080, but seems OK for focusing...

After waiting a few weeks to see what the SmallHD pricing would actually be and then a couple of days ago seeing Ikan drop the price of their V8000HDMI by $200 down to $795 (further discounted at major online retailers) I finally made the decison tonight after reading a lot of this thread to take the plunge and order the Manhattan "A" 8.9".

I was so excited by checkout I opted for the two day Fed Ex to get it here a little faster!

Just so John knows what pushed me to go ahead an purchase now was his post offering the $20 off that expires tonight. Every little bit helps.

I like the idea of helping a small company grow and just experienced for myself the great customer service that I have read about on this thread. I called the phone number listed in John's posts to ask a question about the Tekkeon MP3450i vs the MP3450. I fully expected to get an answering machine as it is night time but John answered the phone himself and kindly spent a few minutes educating me. Made me even gladder I made the decision to purchase.

Now only if I had remembered to ask him when those Sony battery plates are going to come out! (maybe he will see this and post an update).

The only problem I see so far - monitor HDMI controller don't work properly with 1920X1080 resolution, so - in Zoom-mode, preview looks ugly.. till I press the Set-button..
5D2 in recording show 720 X 480 resolution, so, ... the image fit screen perfectly..
I'd like to have preview in monitor to fit entire screen, when camera not start recording yet..
I hope the "Monhattan LCD" will make new firmware, which can fix this...

Serge, nice pictures.

There is nothing wrong with the firmware of the controller, if you want 1920*1080 to show up properly you need to set the monitor to anaphormic which is 16:9, instead of "zoom". The "zoom" is not a standard aspect ratio thus why it does not look correct.

We received the first few 12V battery adapters, available to order. As the adapter represents an addition to the vDoubler (http://www.dolgin.net/VDoubler.htm) family, it is called vDoubler-SPL; SPL stands for the single plate compact size. It comes in Panasonic, Sony, or Canon configurations. It is rated to provide up to 2A at 12V; just as a point of reference the Manhattan LCD HD089 uses about 1.2A. We also tested the adapter with the SWIT S-1070H monitor which uses even less than that. It can be mounted using several options, a special U-bracket is one of them. The small "fuel gauge" smart LED indicates available battery charge. In our tests here we were getting about 3 hours run time while powering a Manhattan monitor with a HVX style battery. Your mileage will vary, a good new brand name battery could do even better than that. At this point we are not shipping outside CONUS, a larger shipment in July or early August will ship worldwide.

Great to hear!

So your saying there will be a $300 and $400 monitor after the coupon? Or have you all ready calculated the discount on those prices?

I've read this entire thread, as well as others where the Manhattan LCDs are mentioned, and I'd really like to get one for my 150; I'm concerned about how to mount it, and I'm not sure if I want to mount it on my tripod or on the camera itself.

There was some mention, and some photos of the Noga mounting arms, but no one has said specifically which one they use; I've seen a U-shaped model, which looks like it could mount to the threaded hole in the 150's handle, and the other end to the side or top mount on the monitor. Which model is that?

As far as mounting the monitor on the tripod, is there an arm out there with a clamp on one end, and a threaded end on the other with an elbow or two for flexibility?

I'm just curious as to what mounting setups others who have these monitors are using.

I'm looking at purchasing the HDO89C with the Tekkeon battery setup.

Any other suggestions out there? Thanks.

Hey John, if I purchase a Manhattan LCD Kit can I purchase a Manhattan LCD Lithium Ion battery instead of a tekkeon battery for it?
Would this be everything I need (minus the enclosure) to have a working powered LCD monitor?

Yes, you can purchase the kit + Manhattan LCD LI battery, FYI we only have one of those batteries left.

We are also running coupons on the HD089A and HD089B for 10% off.

Thanks for the quick reply, you've just gained another customer.
By the way i'm not sure if your inventory amount is wrong or not, but you stated theres only 1 battery left. ManhattanLCD is showing you have 8 left.

Yes, Thanks. When the battery is purchased with a monitor, it does not deduct it from inventory, So i have to manual updated the accessorys.

Ah, if only I would've held off on ordering the Manhattan LCD kit! Would've been an extra 50 dollars off, hehe.
I barely started building it this weekend so it wouldn't have affected much.
Eh, oh well, monitors coming along great.
