I seem to be having problems with the quality of my 24P DVD MPEG2 footage from Vegas.

I've followed the exact workflow requirements layed out by Sony in their pdf instructions (http://mediasoftware.sonypictures.com/support/productinfo/24p.pdf) on the subject with only one additional step they didnt mention. I originally captured and cut my project at 60i with a 60i timeline in Premiere.

I shot in 24pa mode and since the camera outputs 60i video not to mention Vegas and Premiere only CAPTURE in 29.97fps I figured I could export my final cut in Premiere into Vegas as a AVI at 29.97pfs and Vegas wouldnt know the difference between that file and if I had captured the uncut footage in Vegas in the first had.

Once again I followed all the other offically layed out steps exactly and after I converted the footage to MPEG2 with the proper 24p DV DVD Architect template and DVD Architect didnt have to recompress it but never the less my video had a degraded look that was both more choppy and a bit lower res.

Need some help. Any ideas?

BTW my total bitrate including audio was at about 8,800,000.

If you really want to work in Premiere in 24p, and since Premiere doesn't support pull-down, you should use a software called DVFilm Maker (http://www.dvfilm.com/maker/index.htm) that will convert your footage to true 24p. *This way you can edit native 24p in Premiere and export to MPEG2 in 24p. *If you want to export back to tape, you'll have to pass your final project back again in DVFilm Maker to switch it back to 60i. *Those extra steps are a bit of a drag, but you'll achieve what you want.

As for Vegas, well, I have no idea. *:-[
