I have been pulling out my hair trying to solve this problem:

I shot hours of great footage in 24p "standard" mode and captured and cut my project on a 60i timeline in Premiere.

I tried exporting the whole project to Vegas with the final intentions of creating a 24p DVD. I tried exporting in Microsoft DV NTSC (.avi 29.97), Microsoft DV (.avi 23.98) and Quicktime (.mov 23.98) and then importing these files on to a Vegas project with a NTSC 24p DV (720x 480 23.976fps) template with IVTC 23.976 selected as the projects frame rate.

When I imported the files I had inconsistant success. For example only portions of the 29.97 .avi footage seemed to remove the pulldown and other clips within that same file still had interlaced frames.

I tried importing one clip at a time with success only sometimes. Some clips seem to consistantly have problems removing the pulldown. I dont understand why because they are no different from the other clips that did.

I've read the white paper on this site on the subject but this workflow doesnt seem to be directly addressed.

The only thing I can think of is that I need to tell Vegas which field is my A or 0 field so that it can easily remove the interlaced fields.

Please help me. My sanity is at stake.

you may be using incorrect settings and its picking up on of the interlaced fields... shooting 24p Normal is bad like that because on of the fields are interlaced..

Im sure that its something that I missed in the settings along the way. I'd love to hear from someone that can lay down, in detail, the steps in creating TRUE 24p FILES without any interlaced fields from 24p footage shot in the 24p "standard" camera mode. The white paper only says its possible but not as efficient.

Its actually relatively easy depending on what NLE you use.

You shot 24p and edited in a 60i timeline? What happened is your final output 24p cadence is all screwed up. I may be wrong, but unless you can tweak your cuts precisely in Premiere to have a concistant cadence, there is no way to make a clean 24p DVD. Your best bet is to use DVFilm Maker to convert your 60i/24p footage to true 24p AVI, and reedit your stuff in a 24p timeline.
