Problem with Premiere Demos?

This has happened twice now, so it can't be a coincidence --

Several months ago, I downloaded and installed the Premiere 6.0 demo. It did *something* that messed things up on my computer so badly that I had to reinstall XP. I couldn't even do a system restore, because whatever it did to my system, it caused the system restore window to crash before it even opened. The same was true for Internet Explorer.

I couldn't be *sure* that Premiere was the gremlin there, but I wasn't taking any chances, so I never installed it again.

So, I just recently downloaded the Premiere Pro demo, thinking that because it's an entirely new program, I'd have no such issue.

Well, the effects were not as devastating, but it did mess up a DLL or something in Vegas, because whenever I open Vegas now, I get a warning that some file isn't readable. (Vegas still works fine, as far as I can tell.) I also get a pause when I boot -- the one which says that there's a problem with Windows and gives you the choice to boot in "safe" mode.

Two Premiere Demos; two immediate detrimental effects on my OS and other software. This just can't be a coincidence.

Which is too bad, because from what I've seen of Premiere Pro, there's a lot to like about it. But there's no way I'm going to try again to find out.

Never had those types of problems with Premiere, and I've been using it for over 3 years now (Premiere Pro for the last month). And god know I've reinstalled my system on several occasions for various reasons. But having the problems described? Never.

Crashing while in the middle of a project that I haven't saved for the last half hour? Now that is not new to me! But I figure my Matrox RT hardware is not innocent in this matter either. ;)

Maybe it's a demo thing, with the protective mojo they've got going on. Say, you wouldn't want to let me, er, borrow your Pro discs for a day or two, would you . . . ?

wow, i thought i was the only one, i too have downloaded adobe premier pro demo TWICE, and tried installing , what happens intstalls half way THEN nothing, i have tried everything and this piece of crap just doesnt work, (but adobe aftereffects demo works ok) i have windows XP home edition, and AMD Athlon 2000+ XP with 512 DDR and 32bit prosavage graphics card, and bla bla

and what the hell did they program adobe in cuz its *Such* a big piece of bloatware i've ever used, its so damn ineffecient example aftereffects takes for ever to load and everything is slow on like as if i was running it through a mac emulator or something (joke)


maybe its just me, any fixes?

never had any problems with the ppro demo- or ppro for that matter. maybe just lucky:) - flintstone ,-you can set the program to automatically save the project you are working on every certain amount of time which you can set, so that you dont forget :)

one thing i have noticed though is that p6.5 actually plays back video at a higher res than ppro does at its "highest quality" setting. not that it means its degrading the video..just doesnt play it back full potential res.

Ah. Edition's constant save feature has been a lifesaver more than once . . .
