Just started playing with Premiere Pro.No crashes after 3 hours of editing. Good sign. Transitions are real time.Don't see anything regards 24 frame but I work at 25 so OK for me.
Still trying to understand its progressive scan mode. Any help please!Bringing in 25P.

You really enjoy the RT engin of Premier? I find it very inefficient. With one Color Correct filter applied, my desktop playback drops down to around 12fps even in Draft mode. Do you find this also?

False alarm. The magic bullet plug-in is a filter.

I find that Premiere Pro is VERY laggy as well. On the Adobeforum.com website, everyone is complaining about Pro's real-time playback abilities. It's all jittery and jumpy, even on draft mode. Some guy with a dual processor 3.4 Ghz and 2GB RAM is findint it very slow as well.
I guess it's not a hardware problem then? I paid for this program and I can't really use it. The program loads somewhat slow compared to previous versions of Premiere. Previous versions of Premiere also did not lag as much as Premiere Pro's real-time playback.
Others suggested to go to the Preferences>General>Playback settings to choose the "Desktop only" or "Hardware only", etc... but that doesn't make a difference.
What now? Anyone else have problems or even better... solutions? I really hope Adobe fixes this bug with some patch.

not that i consider this a solution that is perfectly reasonable(adobe should tighten up the ship a bit) , but you can always make your monitor window a little smaller..it will cut down on render time, and drop lesss frames if you want to see the post work in smooth action.

Norm, this is the number one reason that I am on a lifetime mission to find replacements for all my adobe products.. hell even acrobat takes way to long to load.
Photoshop same thing.. I can use an alternitive to photoshop and be done what tweak i needed to do before photoshop even finishes loading.

Yeah for sure Zoom!
I have always noticed that Photoshop and Acrobat just take so long to load no matter how good the computer is!
Why can't they just have it start up in an instant?!

cause they want to to look at the pretty little Adobe logo so long that it etches in your brain :)

All Adobe products load fast as hell on my computer...faster than any other editing software I've tried or currently use.
Loving it!

An Adobe dev posted on the forums BEFORE the release, that they were (paraphrased) "listening to feedback" on the forums regarding 24p...
Of course, everyone hoped this meant they would be adding 24p capabilty to PPro... But now, it doesn't seem likely, OR, won't be happening anytime soon.
On a related note, I ORDERED VEGAS YESTERDAY. Time to throw out the DV500/Premiere line...
...and start shooting in 24pA! Can't wait!

What's with all the Adobe Bashing? ::) Don’t you like After Effects? ;D
I hear you though! I have a Matrox RTX100 with Premiere 6.5, and at first I wanted to install a few sticks of dynamite inside my computer. But after tweaking the hell out of it, I'm actually very satisfied with it (for the most part). I have to say that most of the time everything is real-time for just about anything. And I especially like the real-time MPEG output. :D Looking forward to trying out Premiere Pro when I get my hands on it.
That being said, I do find myself at odds with my set-up when Premiere suddenly decides to "stop responding".. Or is it the Matrox tools?. >:( :'(
It sometimes makes me wish I “Switched” to Apple and Final Cut Pro 4 on a sleek dual G5 (with a Pinnacle Cinéwave as a possible future for some uncompressed work I have to do). But the cost of changing all my PC stuff to Mac is too prohibitive. I did consider Vegas once or twice, but I don't find the UI to be very intuitive. And I've never really caught on to Acid Pro for the same reason. Hey, I've read the reviews, all of them great... but I’m really hooked on the real-time just about anything of my Matrox/Premiere combo too much (even with it's occasional heart wrenching crashes). Perhaps a good "Vegas for Dummies" tutorial could help me change my mind? :-/

After Effects is perhaps one of the greatest piece of graphics software out there. And the PDF format is awsome.

Just hit a small tiny insignificant snag this week end. *Premiere 6.5 and Matrox RTX100... *Try editing a rapid paced music video containing at least 160 clips in under 5 minutes. *Crash, crash crash! *Can't apply a filter without a crash! *This system is really pissing me off, and to top it off, I reinstalled from scratch my system, and I still suffer from crash galore.
Vegas demo download, here I come... again! *Hope this time I'll persevere. *If not, then FCP is down the corner.

Hey flintstone, it might be the card. I had bought the RT2500(think thats the number) and it was a nightmare. I emailed back and forth with no real solutions. Then I did searches all over the place for forums and found that everyone was having problems with matroxs stuff and that I basically bought a POS. So now it sits in its box waiting for the great ebay in the sky.

It's too bad though, there are no perfect solutions out there. I've tried Vegas, but just can't get used to the UI and it's workflow (I must be too Premiere minded). I got the Blade demo key code yesterday, so I hope I'll be able to tackle this new beast.
I don't know if it me growing old too fast, but I find myself a little change adverse these days. I like Premiere (or rather I am used to Premiere), I've also tried Premiere Pro, which is not too different from 6.5, when compared to Blade and Vegas that is. Anyway, I find myself wishing that Premiere Pro could support 24p, but the reality of the situation is they don't. So I have to take a deep long breath, and calmly approach my next NLE with a fresh new perspective, all the while trying to break old habits.
But one thing is for sure... NO MORE MATROX CARDS, or any other "hardware accelerators" for me! I've had it, they caused me too much grief... and the worst part is, I put up with it for so long.

I too have tried Vegas and Blade, and just found myself getting slowed down by the UI. I have been working with premiere 6x and now Premiere Pro for a while now, and have come to rely on dvfilm maker to convert my footage to true 24p for edit in Premiere pro. It works great, and I get to use the UI that I have grown to depend upon. I guess it would be nice to have native DVX24pA support, but it really isn't a big priority. Besides, after I convert my files to true 24P, the file size is smaller :) Thats me, always looking on the bright side.

I know what you mean about the new interfaces thing. When Softimage went to XSI i totally bailed and went back to Lightwave. I hated the thought that I just learned that dang program in depth and then they go and change it on me. Same thing with Alias, they went and changed it to Power animator and then Maya which screwed me up too. Im glad Lightwave has been sticking to thier interface since the release of the first stand-alone version which was 4.0 Now you can change the interface if you want and add or delete tabs and sub-tabs. The software company I work for is revamping thier interface (a good thing in this case) and I get to be part of the interface design. We had our first meeting about it on monday and they already added some of the ideas I mocked up in photoshop.

You are doing something wrong. Adobe Premiere Pro is extremely stable on both of my P4 1.7GHz 256RAM machines.
