Evening all,

I was hoping to grab advice from the forum's if possible.

I'm starting to consider Leasing out 2 HV20's..

Website:
http://www.camerent.co.uk/video_camera_hire/canon/Canon_HV20_lease.html

Apart from assuming that:-

''It has it's own forum on dvxuser?! Wow. It must be good then.''

I was wondering If anybody thought It was work the 3 year lease?

i won't assume to know your financial situation. but, with the price they're asking, and the length of the lease. you'd be better off getting a low interest rate credit card and buying them.

The HV20 has been replaced by the HV30 and now the newly announced HV40. The HV30s are around $650 brand new in the States.

I just did a internet search through the canon website and found a place called jacob's video in the UK that sells the HV30 for 734 pounds.

You're paying according to that website 607 pounds for 1 HV20 over 3 years. A camera that is already 2 models out of date as of today.

If I where you I'd pick them up used from people updating to the HV30 or the HV40.

You can buy an HV30 for about 540.00 at www.buydig.com (http://www.buydig.com) I have gotten equipment from there in the past. It is a good idea, just needs some tweaking. I would lease a RED fer sure!

Matt,
From what I gathered I believe Ki-Ki is based out of the UK and thus would need a PAL camera.

I agree with you though, for such a small item leasing just does not seem to be worth it.

if you're running a company it simplifies your books tremendously. i lease everything i (don't) own, including little things like my hv20 and zoom h2 recorder. one invoice to pay every month and no investment/depreciation or other annoying things like that. very nice. and no, it's typically not more expensive than getting it on your credit card (the pal version is much more expensive).
