G'day,
I recently shot some Wakeboarding and used it as a test for my Letus Extreme.
The idea was to see if its possible to shoot action sports with an adapter, given the unscripted action/movement that usually comes with sports.
I would love some constructive criticism on either of the 2 shorts below. (1min length each)

really good stuff. man that pond is small. We don't have those "Pull parks" (don't know what they are called )but I've seen them in europe. Love the night colour.

Some pretty slow Canon FD's,
Most of that was shot on a 70 - 210mm F4 - 5.6
The rest on a 50mm 1.8.
EX1 + L/Extreme.

I think you did a great job. I would like to see more shots where you have focal separation, that really pops out the images for me. A few more shots with longer lenses would make a great balance.
Nice color grading, editing and roto job. Moving away from the cinematography you can employ something like twitch to enhance the grunge editing. Just a suggestion.

Thanks mate for the positive feedback. Thanks everyone.
A question, focal separation? Does that mean different variety between images, eg..1 shot 50mm, next shot 200mm ect ect? Or is it just a fancy word for DOF?
I will check out twitch, thankyou!

Fancy word for DOF is my guess.
I liked both edits a lot. I loved the whole look of them.

I liked this a lot. Question: What are your settings for the nighttime shots and how much light are you throwing out there? Nice job.

Yes, thats exactly what I meant, and for sports we most commonly use intentional mistakes like letting people and action walk out of focus. It makes for a grungier look. keep up the good work:thumbup:

EX1. WOW. No wobble, no flashing when the guy takes a picture. What was your secret. GREAT

The nighttime stuff is WITHOUT the Adapter. We had a mobile lighting tower organized to come in to provide light to aid the riders (the photographer had his own flash kit) so I did my best with the light that I had. I actually had a couple of DB's gain added, basically because I had to, as much as I HATE doing that. The colour of the man made damm is actually very brown, so I white balanced off it to make it more blue.

I had rolling shutter issues at night time due to the flash photography. It is evident in some shots where the flash only covers the bottom half of the frame. I managed to hide it on the rest of the night time shots by creating my own "flash" in FCP.
Thanks everyone for the positive comments, much appreciated!

Ok, great, thanks for the advice, i will incorporate it with my next production.
As for focus drifting, I find that almost happens on its own when shooting with the Letus, maintaing focus without a Follow Focus with action sports is bloody hard haha.
Thanks for the comments, appreciated!

Oh WOW, that is a brilliant idea!!! That totally got me thinking!!
With that said the XDCAM EX flashs although annoying, aren't nearly as bad as the 25 Mps HDV flashes.
Incredible work btw and killer colour work (especially on some of the tighter shots).
