Producing 24p footage w/ Canon XL1s

The Canon XL1s has a 'frame mode' which I guess is 30p(?). I want to produce 24p footage.

Should I shoot interlaced and then convert to 24p in post (probably using Sony Vegas 7), or shoot frame mode and then convert to 24p in post?

30p does not convert well to 24p. Shoot 60i and convert.
