I'm in a hurry to edit a video a shot for a class. All I have to work with is Premiere 6.5, but I'm clueless when it comes to doing all the simple stuff, Capturing/Cutting/Redirecting to DVD/etc., is there a free tutorial somewhere online to help me out. I have large clip that I just need to chop up and rearrange. Could anyone list some quick commands for me? Thanks.

I'll see what I can do.
-plug in your camera, windows should recognize it.
-open premiere and click file/capture.
-make sure your tape is rewound to the beginning and hit the big red cirlce (capture/record button)
-After you have captured your clip it will appear in your file browser inside of premiere.
-grab the clip and drag it onto the timeline.
-press the "c" key to get your razor blade tool. You can then make the cuts anywhere you want. hit the "v" key to select the clips you don't and press "delete".
-move all the clips together when you are done and then go to file/export/export movie clip.
-the default settings should be fine but make sure that it is set to dv-avi and then hit render.
-as far as going to dvd you will need separate software to compile the dvd, but you can export the clip from premiere as an mpeg2 file. Simply go to file/export/adobe media encoder, then select the mpeg2 dvd preset.
This is the most basic steps of capturing and editing. obviously there are many more things that you can do but hopefully thsi will get you started.
