OK, this is what happens : during the shoot, I shoot takes one after the other and press the red "STOP" button in between. Sometimes I leave a few seconds' blank between takes, sometimes not. Nothing unusual there.
Now, when I capture in Premiere Pro, using the DVX as deck (no other choice for the moment), the capture oftens stops at the end of a take and, instead of proceeding to the next one, Premiere gives me the following warning : "Can't find timecode during capture."
I then have to log the captured clip independently and restart the capture process. I wish I could avoid that and keep capturing the whole tape. Any ideas as to what causes this "no timecode found" error ?
Thanks a lot in advance.

timecode break. you have to be sure that your not breaking timecode when recording, hte easiest check would be to check and see if there is the proper timecode showing on your monitor/lcd before hitting record

Thanks, IAL. My next questions would be :
A. Are there safeguarding measures to take before or during recording to prevent timecode from "breaking" ?
B. When I look at the LCD, how do I make sure that the timecode is not "broken" ?
C. If it does appear "broken", can I "restore" it on the spot (and if so, how) or is there nothing to be done about it once it is "broken" ?
Thanks again for your help ! :)

if the timcode number shows in the lcd then its not broken. if its all 0's it better be the beginning of the tape, to get back to your timecode if you go passed it, you need to rewind the tape a little to get back to the last timcode #. i useually leave the cam in video mode, and just hold the rewind direction on the vtr control stick for a sec. it should dhuttle back a tiny bit, and your timecode will pop up, other wise you can hit the "end search" button and that should play back the last 2 secs of your last take, ans stop at the last timecode # . or you can go into vtr mode, and rewind till yu get there if its a ways back., but as long as the # shows in the lcd it shoud be fine. .. although when you play the vid back in vtr mode. you have to hit stop right at the end of your take, cause it will keep rolling blank tape through, and keep the last timecode number up, which doesnt break the timecode , but results in a period of time where the timecode just sits there as you sit and watch wasted blank tape roll through the cam when you are capturing...then it starts to record again when it gets to the next recording and next timecode # .

OK, so if I understand correctly, all I have to do is apply one of the techniques you described above to make sure the timecode never reads zero-zero-zero etc. (unless of course I'm at the beginning of the tape ;)) ?
