The footage doesn't look too bad and it seems to be a pretty well-made product. So I was wondering, for 275, what is the disadvantage of this thing compared to a more expensive adapter? All I can really think of is light loss but for a grand of leftover cash I could get some bangin light kits to make up for it..
Do any of you guys have any experience with this adapter?
I have no experience with 35mm business and I would like to get started with it, so if you have anything that I need to know or look for in a 35mm adapter, please post!
What are your thoughts?

Well as with anything in life, you get what you pay for. A cheaper adapter may produce acceptable images but you can bet that its not built as well as one of the more expensive adapters.
Using a 35mm adapter takes some getting used to, and its not for everyone, so maybe buying one of the cheaper alternatives first would be a good idea, but the build quality will not be up to those of the more expensive adapters...

Luke,
Hoarp is right that you get what you pay for. If your still a student and just starting into these things, (video/35adapters) then you work within your budget. If, however, you are a making a living out of video or plan on making a living out of video, then you must INVEST on reliable equipment, I'm not saying that this is not, but just by looking at his site and samples it is clear that this is targeted to the small cam form factor.
What camera do you use?
What do you plan to shoot with this?
Knowing so will give some of the posters here some idea on how to advice you.

CHECK OUT WWW.HANDY35.COM (http://www.HANDY35.COM) its a beautifuly made spinning adapter.i just bought one after using a brevis and i can tell you this. The diy that i made had as good image quality as the brevis it only vibrates and will have noticable grain patterns on certain backrounds. Now for the spinners.way more quiet(no buzzing or vibration) no grain patterns .no dust or dirt to worry about because it completely disapears unlike the brevis ,jag ,letus. In my opinion the Handy is the best bang for the buck ,it also comes with rails and a carry handle which helps incredibly.just check it out .you will love it and its built like a tank.

thanks a bunch guys. I am only 15 but have gotten way into film lately. I realize that this is no top of the line adapter like the redrock or sgpro but I thought for it's price it would give me acceptable footage for shorts or fun films. I shoot my films with an hv20 and I have a vx1000 but this would be for my hv20.

Then you should check out the gt35pro range of adapters. There is a writeup on The Editblog too. http://www.scottsimmons.tv/blog/2008/12/20/in-the-editblog-garage-gt35-pro-adapter/

Hey Greg, I've had quite a good look at your adapters. I really like the pictures they create but you need more video examples of the elite with larger cameras like the xha1. I only see one on your vimeo page.

Hi bimdas, I will get more samples out. I need to rent a XH-A1 or a HVX200 then go for a day shoot with some nice models. Right now I am still behind with the xmas orders, getting the last orders out by early next week. The quality of the Elite is still not as good as the Advanced as bigger optics are very expensive and I need to keep the price down. When I get better optics for a reasonable price I will offer an upgrade.
