This sign was up at an Empire theatres Granville 7 multiplex( formerly Cineplex Odeon) . Part of the Jonathan Demme movie was shot handheld on an HV20.

Is that just a few scenes in the movie?

Not sure what scenes, but according to Jonathan Demme interview, sounds like they used it throughout the movie, in the group scenes

Most likely a character in the movie is videotaping the family scenes, interviewing guests, etc. And they used the actual footage from the camera.

"may cause patrons to feel sick or disoriented."

Shaky camera.....or is it just the plot making people sick?

That sign should be on all major films these days. Seems no one in Hollywood can afford a tripod or dolly these days....... Of course the indies jump on the bandwagon since it's hip and all of sudden watching any move makes you sea sick.......

If anyone has seen Cloverfield I'm pretty sure they used the HVX200 for some of the handheld shots and that made me sort of sick. But I'm surprised they have to put up signs for these things. But I'm glad to see the HV30 has made it this big! I knew it could do it.

Wow, is that sign because of a lawyer, or a whiny patron?

Actually, isn't it the other way around? Big studios with plenty of tripod budget are knocking themselves over to get the 'Amateur' video look on certain shots. Indies would do well to follow their lead- on certain shots
I call it the drunken sailor look. Not a bad idea when you reckon that 1/2 the world is on 'something' these days . Gotta get that realism you see.

Im sick of seeing the shaky look on most Hollywood productions these days. Almost all action flicks pull this crap off. The Born Identity films and transformers are great examples of this. I just sit there and ask myself "what the F just happened". Its a total cop out.
