I run FCP 6.0.5

I downloaded the "decoder" from Panasonic, but the install menu only allows you to specify the drive, and not the location/folder on the drive.

I installed, got the "successfully installed" message, but cannot find the decoder as a discrete piece of software anywhere.

Is it installed in the Library for FCP to use in the Log and Transfer function, or is it used some other way? My understanding was that you pointed the decoder at the AVCHD footage once downloaded to the media drive, and watched it go to work, then ingested the DVCProHD footage into FCP. All tips gratefully received.

Just trying to get my ducks in a row as I wait for the 150 to be delivered!

Best wises for the New Year to all, kl

The AVC-Intra decoder doesn't have anything to do with AVCHD. That's a totally different format. That's for using an HPX3000 or other AVC-Intra camcorder with FCP.

FCP 6.0.5 already has support for AVCHD.

Thank you, Barry; and that will be news for one of the local distributors of this camera, too (he directed me to that URL).

So, to recap, the FCP Log and Transfer window will do that automatically? I guess one downside (small) is that the L&G window only allows all footage to be ingested; you can't log and transfer only the clips you want. I can live with that.

And (while waiting for your new 150 book), how much of the HVX book's information would be transferable to the 150?

Cheers and best wishes for the new year, too. KL

All the scene file information and physical button/switch issues are going to be identical between the 170 and the 150, so the new HVX+HPX Book is largely transferable to the HMC150. Well, not *all* the scene file stuff, because there's the variable frame rate stuff that the 150 doesn't have, but other than that, yes. Then the other menu stuff is largely comparable too and the new book will probably have large swaths of it lifted directly from the HVX+HPX Book.

Yes, L&T should do it all automatically; there are people like David S. doing it right now so you should ask for experiences on it, but it is my understanding that the main purpose of the 6.0.5 update was to add HMC150 support.

Thanks Barry: just ordered the book now. And I will search the forum for David S. posts; the camera will be here tomorrow. Cheers and best wishes for the New Year.
