Anyone know where else to get follow focus gear rings for Nikkor lenses please?
Hopefully a bit cheaper than these (link)

go for the redrock, it is way easier to fit on , adjust and remove then what is on the market at the moment.
and most lens doesn't turn around at 360*,

Now I have to work out the gear pitch to match my Cavision Follow focus device.
(Everyone talks a different standard eg tpi or pitch...)

.8 or "film pitch" is pretty standard. Both our FF and rings use this.

I will contact you mid Jan and order some rings.
(Instead of changing them across all the time..your product look better to have one for each lens - right?)

It's a tradeoff. With a design like the Redrock, you can swap gears quickly between lenses, so if you happen to be renting some nice glass then it's not a real hassle to put on and off.

How does one adjust the Cinevate universal gear ring to accomodate the different barrel dimensions?

Never used them, but from the product photo, it looks like they have threads that you screw in and out to grip to the lens. If this is true, then couldn't they scratch the lens barrel?

No, they couldn't. Only people could. People could do lots of things and then blame the "stupid car", "stupid adapters", "stupid gears", etc. Der ain't nothing (I know of) foolproof. My comment is not aimed at you personally, but @ the mentality of blaming "things" for people's actions. My 2c.

We send the rings out with several sets of fasteners that cover just about every lens out there. Part 2 of the Durus follow focus vid is coming in a day or two. This video details installation of the focus rings.
Our Zeiss lens set is permanently geared. This isn't to say you couldn't remove the gears, but we don't. If you're not using the FF, the ring still offers an easy "grip" for manually racking focus. When properly installed the rings are perfectly circular and also rotate with no runout. In other words, once you set the follow focus in position, the gear does not change it's spacing relative to it. This in turn makes for very smooth and predictable focus racks. Because all the gears have identical outside radius, if they're mounted on each lens similarly, you don't even need to re-adjust the FF when swapping lenses.

I was just asking if the ends of the screws that contact the slr lens barrel are sharp, as I cannot tell from the photo.

No, not sharp. Used properly they should leave no marks.
