Im curious if they could pull upwards and slow down enough to actually land sans parachute...

landing is not possible, but you can get a bit of uplift and you do get a lot of forward motion and way slower freefall rate when wing-suit flying...
i never quite got to wingsuit flying.... ~200 regular skydives are necessary to start...
i stopped at 53 :(

A friend of mine introduced me to a friend of his who is one of the most well known base jumpers. This guy is trying to raise a few million dollars to be the first wingsuit flyer to land on his stomach and live. He is trying to raise the money to develop some sort of runway system, he won't discuss the details because he is in a contest between himself and a French wingsuit flyer (might even be the guy in this clip) on who will do this first. They did a story on this on CNN earlier this year.
Amazingly ballsy.

Is that Jeb Corliss? Can't remember where but I read about him not too long ago. I think it was in connection to his being sued for trying to basejump off the Empire State Building. :)
