Just curious if anybody mixes these two up on their editors...and how to go about doing it.

I edit on FCP...so to my understanding (dont have the HMC yet), I can batch transcode in Toast 9 to Prores, and Prores should edit natively on an HDV timeline right (because I have it set so that HDV renders as Prores on my FCP settings)...

Or ok, just to clear it up, I'll be shooting XHA1 24F on FCP's 1080p24 timeline. If I were to mix up some HMC footage (taking into account that 720p is its strength and not 1080p), whats the best way to go about this?

Well, I have mixed (from an XHA1) 1080/60i output with 720/60p from the HMC150 on the same timeline in Adobe CS3, and it worked perfectly. I just transcoded the AVCHD output to DVCProHD 720/60p using the transcoder that Panasonic offers as a free down load, and dropped it on my Premiere Pro timeline, and that was all there was to it.
I never would have thought such was possible....but it sure is!

Well final cut is able to handle multiple file types on one timeline so you should be fine regardles.s

i'm working on a long form documentary right now and i've shot about 3 tapes with xh-a1 and about 3 8gb cards worth of hmc150. shot both at 1080/30p and captured both at proress. so essentially once captured they both are the same. now to just get the colors to match better is my only issue.

yeah but according to some folks here, the HMC's 1080 doesnt perform all too well. what i had in mind was mixing HMC 720 footage with XHA1 1080 footage on an FCP timeline then probably export out at 720...or is there a better way?
