Sometimes when I'm viewing clips it will not allow me to delete individual clips....only allowing me to format.

If I'm not mistaken, you can only deal with clips in camera that were shot in the recording mode the camera is currently in.
You have to select the clip first. (I am guessing you are in the cameras internal P2 manager)
Just select the clips you want to delete by moving over them using the arrow keys and pressing the middle Pause key I think it is. That will highlight the clip blue. You can then delete it. You can do this with multiple clips.
If you wanted to delete 5 clips just select the 5 then it will confirm on deletion - are you sure you want to delete 5 clips. Select yes. voila.
