View Full Version : Ritz Camera is worthless

So, during their Black Friday "Sale" I bought a bunch of CF cards from Ritz. They were to be free after rebate, free shipping, and all that jazz. Seemed too good to be true, but I figured with an online retailer as big as Ritz that it would be the real deal.

As of today I have not received them. Why you ask? Because they canceled my order 2 weeks ago and did not notify me. This happened just 2 days after they sent me an email to tell me they would ship them as soon as possible, once they were in stock.

According to their website, the Manufacture ID for the card I ordered shows in stock. Their outsourced customer service has told me everything from "they will not get anymore in stock" to "the manufacture doesn't even make them anymore".

I usually hate to read these vendetta threads about junk like this, but I mostly wanted to share my experience with you good folk so you could avoid the same experience I did. I've just sent one more email to them, copying all their officers, in hopes that they will honor what they sold me. I hate reading about this junk when it happens to other people, so avoid the trouble I'm having and buy from B&H or Adorama or something.

I won't even go in that place. Most of sales people I have ever encountered there have no clue what they are talking about. And "Junk" as you call it, Has a place on the forum just like anything else.:beer:

Sorry about that Dan, but glad you shared it. I was going to hit them up after the holidays but they just lost my business. So, posts like this are important and do affect their margin.

Dan, I bought the same deal you did, just in SD cards, received them a few weeks ago, everything was fine. I even had to get a hold of their customer support about a question with the rebate and they were quick and knowledgeable. I also ordered my D90 from them, no problems there either.

I think it is really hit or miss.

Its spooky to me when you mention someone or a place by name and they respond in the thread soon after. I mean, that never fails to throw me. I guess its a good reminder that you have to be careful what you say because people are lurking in the wings actually reading....:)

Sorry Dan. We used to have a Ritz in the mall where I lived and they were always a nightmare. For starters, they usually price themselves out of the ballpark so I never choose them. I just liked to go there because it was the only "camera" store in the mall and was a great place to get hands-on.

Well there you go. I've had responses from the two good companies I mentioned, but none from Ritz. I think this just drives home my point.
