I've got the Sennheiser 400 on my HV30 and have noticed it is very susceptible to wind noise. Has anyone plunked down the $50 for the companion windscreen?
How well does it work?

Most windscreens will give a marked improvement. Also check all switches and connection points, and cover if needed. Try this test, switch on your cam, and monitoring through headphones, blow lightly around all switches etc, you will be amazed at how much noise is generated. I use a length of mic foam to cover the back end of my Sennheisers, (K6, ME64 and 66). This covers the tiny filter switch and XLR connection. It realy makes a big difference.
Oh, and a Rycote softy on the front end.
