Here's a quick tip for those that don't know it.

If you are using a bunch of effects that take forever to render on your timeline and you have actually rendered it to view the edit, export the movie and then reimport it and open up a new sequence with the flattened file.

Now when you use the mpeg encoder, it will export about 20 times faster than if you were to export from the timeline with all of the effects.

Took me a while to figure this out when I was starting out so I just thought I'd pass this along...

This is a timesaver, but beware of quality concerns. Once you export a clip and reimport it, you have added a new generation to the clip. Various codecs handle multiple generations of DV footage with varying levels of grace.

..i usually do that also cause I export the whole timeline and save a ful res AVI for archival and such, and then just open a new project, and use the AVI to encode to WMV or use it in encore to encode to MPG2.. and all that jazz. works well.
