Anyone here familiar with NX? I'd love to know if there's a way to d&b with this software but haven't been able to so far. I don't have PS so any tips on accomplishing this using Capture NX would be great, thanks!

If it has control points you might be able to drop them where you want and adjust brightness or exposure?

Are brightness and exposure the functions you play with in PS to get that effect? How so? I can probably recreate that in NX.

In photoshop I create a new layer, fill it with %50 neutral gray, and set it's blend mode to overlay, hard-light, or soft-light. Then I paint on that layer with white(dodge) or black(burn) using a low opacity brush.

In NX you don't have that option so the closest thing I can think of is throwing a CP onto an area that you want brighter/darker and increase/decrease its brightness. This will be more time consuming than the photoshop method but you should get close to the same effect...I think.

I was going to try and see but my trial copy of NX2 is apparently expired.

Are you in Capture NX or NX2? Because NX2 I think has it. I use it mainly for the color adjustments which utilize the Viveza engine.
