For the last few days, I have been trying to figure why the footage from my HVX200 looks more dark inside premiere pro cs3 on my computer than on any other computer. It even looked fine if I played it outside premiere pro.

I just figure it out... the window in premiere is on the top of the screen and because of the way my screen is place 8 inches up on my desk, the angle made it look darker. My eyes are straight in the middle of the screen so I thought that everything should look good that way.

My question: At which height should an lcd screen be placed to get the most accurate color when I watch it while i'm working on adobe premiere?

My screen is a SAMSUNG syncmaster 940B. I want to buy a new one, 24''. What should I consider to avoid this problem. Will the new LCD screen fix this issus? I want to spend 500$ max, so I can't afford a production monitor right now.

Thanks.

Personally I can't edit off my desktop I need to see it on a television wether its a production monitor or not. If you don't want ot hook up a television through a cheap dv camera (thats asssuming you are editing dv) then I would recommend buying a CRT rather than using a LCD that can have the angle issue. If you have to use an LCD then you will want to make sure you are watching it head on and that you look at your footage on a few differnt systems and work accordingly. Whichever route you wind up going, make sure to calibrate properly. THis is going to make the most difference in the end, more than moving you head 8 inched higher.

Problem is no one produces a pro level CRT Monitor anymore.

i'M producing HD 720p. I have a samsung 42'' FULLHD 1080 at home. Should I check my footage on this TV. IS LCD flat screen TV are more accurate than LCD monitor? Also, I'm using a HVX200, can I plug the camera directly on the TV to check my footage? I don't think I can watch the footage in HD from my camera connect to my TV... I also have Raylight, so I can transfer my editing back on a P2 card and play it on the TV before to decide to do any color ajustment if it work!
