I'm about to start a photograph collage video and I plan on shooting each photo with the DVX and I want to use Premiere Pro to edit. Can I capture as a still and then place them on a timeline, or do I have to capture video and pull a still from that (and how would that be done?)?

Hopefully you were able to find the answer to your question, but I'll answer it here just in case you weren't.
Still photos from a video camera aren't of the highest quality. Ideally you'd use a high quality scan or a shot from a digital still camera. You could then edit (at least crop) in Photoshop then save as either a high quality jpeg or as a *.PSD file. Import into Premiere and just drag it onto the timeline.

to pull a still image from the video the way to do it is...place the play head on the frame you want as a still imagethen press....CTRL+SHIFT+M this will give you that frame to save as a still then take into photoshop and save it at about 400 dpi instead of the default 70 that your given..ive printed these images at 10 by 8 and they look good..but like the green one said not as good as digital still camera
