Just about to dive head first into the world of DOF Adapters.

Would value any advice and opinions.

Letus Elite Cine Bundle - PL Mount , Nikon Mount and HVX optimised, Letus rod system, case.

Dug around in my lens box and found:

Nikkor 50mm f2
AF Nikkor 28-85mm f3.5
AF Nikkor 70-210mm f4
AF Nikon 24mm f2.8

Somewhere (in a box) I also have a classic Nikkor 105mm f?

This sound like a good start?

I also have some DX lenses but know they wont be suitable.

BTW: I have access to a large selection of PL mount lenses.

The last line is the key - aren't pretty much any PL-mount lenses you can find going to be a lot better than those kind of average Nikons? Especially the AF Nikons which (as I understand it) are a little cumbersome to use in manual focus mode compared the old manual focus Nikon lenses. The one exception would be that 105mm, assuming it's a Micro-Nikkor, i.e. a macro lens. That could have its uses!

I cant see why the AF Nikons should be any particular problen to focus. They have a smooth operating focus ring with distance increments etc. They only engage in AF mode via the SLR camera body lever/switch.

I am getting both lens mounts because I own the Nikon lenses but I would usually need to hire the PL lenses from local sources. I do have a mate with a full set of Zeiss Super Speeds though so I feel I have the bases well covered so far.

Just added :

Nikkor 35mm
Nikkor 55mm Macro

to complement list:

Nikkor 50mm f2
AF Nikkor 28-85mm f3.5
AF Nikkor 70-210mm f4
AF Nikon 24mm f2.8

That should do the business.

You're gonna love those super speeds, as compared to the Nikkors. And getting the PL mount right off the bat is smart, because you can't just go out and rent the mount.

Always been a bit of a Super Speed fan and have used them many times over the years (even when they got unfashionable). Like the close focus ability and the look of them more than the fast aperture.

It ends here:

Just lucked in when browsing a camera store and I found a Nikkor 105mm f2.5

so the lens box is now:

AF Nikon 24mm f2.8 *
Nikkor 35mm *
Nikkor 50mm f2
Nikkor 55mm Macro *
Nikkor 105mm f2.5 *
AF Nikkor 28-85mm f3.5
AF Nikkor 70-210mm f4

All lenses and glass in top condition. The four lenses I bought in the last few days (marked with *) cost me approx $600USD

Letus Elite Cine Bundle is paid for and ordered to be shipped on my return from vacation.

...so now looking forward to testing and shooting start of 2009. (Mid January)

Merry Xmas to all.
