I use Premiere for editing and AE for some effects/color correction.

Personally i mostly use premiere for both - just cause i'm more familiar with it and the workflow is simpler. I find for simple tasks like fixing white balance or simple color matching, it works just fine (i love fast color corrector for this). In my videos, I most often adjust levels and/or color balance so it does fine. If you need a much more fine-grained tool for these things then yeah AE will do a great job. I just hate switching back and forth, and adobe's "feature" of embedding one in the other really seems more like a workaround.

I used Premiere for Editing ONLY. If I'm editing a film in Premiere I don't even use crossfade transitions. I use the opacity envelope in Premiere so that the fades/crossfades carry over into After Effects.

In AE, I do all my color and FX. I use REBEL CC for color and/or Magic Bullet Looks.

It's better to do your color in AE because it uses RGB.

if you use ppro you can just dynamic link your sections that need AE work, and then finish in ppro its much easier to work with the audio and vid for finishing in ppro imho.

Edits only in Premiere, onlining/CC/FX in AE. I used ProspectHD as the intermediate file format with CS3 and will do the same with CS4 when it's available from Cineform.
