Hi guys,
Some of you here may know how I hate anything that's pixel aspect ratio-related... I swear this will be the end of me ! :'(
OK, here goes again : I shoot in PAL Squeeze mode because I want a 16:9 look. In my viewfinder the image looks... well, squeezed, as usual.
I capture the AVI (let's say there's just one footage file) and drop it into PP 1.5. In the Monitor, the image fills up the 16:9 window nicely (grey bands on top and below, and no letterboxing). I edit. Then I think, "Hey, I'll just Export Movie from Premiere, so I'll have a 'raw' but edited AVI."
In Export Movie Settings|General, the format is set at Microsoft AVI. In Video Settings, the Compressor is set at "None", Color depth at "Millions +", Frame Size at "720 x 576 v. 16:9", and Pixel Aspect Ratio at "D1/DV PAL Widescreen 16:9 (1.422)".
So it all looks like it should, doesn't it ? Let's export.
And when I open the file in the Windows Media player, the image nicely fills up a... 4:3 window (gasp), and... yes, of course... I should have known... it looks squeezed !! :-[
Please, do tell me it's normal, it's just because of the goddam square/non square pixel thingy, and it will look just fine when seen on a TV screen !
And also, please do tell me what it is I have to do to make the image look like 16:9 (without letterboxing) when watched on a computer screen, too !
It's either that or a massive overdose of aspirin.
Thank you so much in advance for your help !
