I will be having to deliver footage to clients in the month of January and would like to deliver the converted files in Apple ProRes 422 on a BluRay disk. I need to make a decision on the drive. Anyone with experience in either building-case and drive or self contained/prebuilt unit?
What connection choice? USB 2.0 FW400-800?
It just seems that this is the easiest way to hand off footage to a client and keep backups.
Any advice and or opinions welcome.

Well ProRes and Blu-Ray are two different formats... You might want to review the how-to by David S. on burning to Blu-Ray (http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=155514). Long story short, Pro-Res won't play on a Blu-Ray player.

Sounds like you're just burning the data to the Blu-Ray and not looking to make a Blu-Ray DVD right?

I think you would fit around 48 minutes of ProRes 422 1920x1080 files on a 50 Gb Blu-Ray disc,
half that on a 25Gb obviously....

Yes I know there is a difference between ProRes. Sorry if you misunderstood. Thanks N8ATURE you got it.
I want to copy the raw(converted in FCS from AVCHD) ProRes files on a 50 gig blu-ray disk and hand them off to my clients who do their post elsewhere or themselves.
So to make it clear, I am not looking to author a blu-ray disk for this purpose but simply using the large storage capability of blu-ray as an archive and to deliver footage.
thanks for your hardware recommendations in advance.

Brian. Consider:
1. Converting to p2 in Windows and sending folders of p2/mxf footage for ingesting;
2. Converting to DVCProHD assuming that your clients have that codec.
The first option provides ready access to individual clips.
As to drives, the main question you asked your choices are:
1. macsales.com
2. Lacie
3. A bare drive and USB2 case.
I saw a Buffalo blu ray burner external for sale today to BB for $249.00
