So I need some help with exporting.. HD 24p, to SD widescreen for a dvd

So I filmed this in HD, 24P on a Sony HVR-Z7U to mini dv tape..

I put it in a HDV timeline, and I need to export the video as a SD, I want it to be widescreen, or 4x3/ just letter boxed... I need to know how I should go about do this, everytime I export it , it usually looks a little bit bad, and not up to par with HD standards look...

I will eventually need to export this whole video to a blu-ray disk in HD, but for now I only need to export it to a regular dvd just to view.. Can anyone help me out here?

First, import the whole HD project into an SD 720 x 480 timeline. Scale each individual clip to 45% so that they fit. Now render out Microsoft Avi with compressor set to None, 720 x 480 PAR 1.2, then import into the DVD authoring software of choice.
