View Full Version : Premiere CS4 system with Axio or something like it...

I need to buy a CS4 system in the next couple of months.

The system will mainly be use for (in order of usage) :
Premiere CS4
AfterFX CS4
3ds Max 2009
Encore CS4
Soundbooth CS4
Flash CS4
PhotoShop CS4

I want to run Vista 64, for the expended memory capacity. 8GB of RAM, minimum. Raid system. A good Video card (like the latest Quadro) and some fast CPUs...

I'm also very interested in using a system like Axio from Matrox, mainly for the i/o interface that it provides and the added acceleration. However, it looks like CS4 support is non existent and even more troublesome, no Vista 64 drivers...

So, my question, is there another solution, "beside-but like" Axio, that support CS4 and Vista 64?

I need a solid, stable, and fast system, cause it will have to last for a 2-3 years... Price is no object. ($10000 and up if it's what it needs to work really well).

Anyone else on the same boat?
Thanks for your help!

Good to know. I'll look into it, thanks.

Do you know any competitive products to Axio?

Wonder what manufacturer is putting this in their machines ??

Will be in the market for a new desktop/workstation next year and will look to have one of these in it.

Axio drivers for CS4 Vista 64 are in beta right now. Still a ways out though...

Actually the specs of your machine on rereading it (was in a hurry last night and caught the gist of it) is exactly the sort of specs I am going for in my next machine.

Would love to be able to take advantage of a 64 bit machine with the extra RAM.
Reading about the axio on their sote and it's key features:
Accelerated export to Blu-ray, DVD, all multimedia formats including Flash Video, and Adobe Clip Notes

How much faster would this be in practice?
I have just waited for 2 hours for a 7 1/2 minute video with effects to render.

Improved Rendering times are the Holy Grail for all of us and this setup looks like the future.

It would make a pretty versatile machine, that's for sure. The only missing piece is 64 bit support for those RAM hungry CS4 applications (I'm looking at you AfterFx!).

But if it's true that Beta drivers are in the work, then I'm willing to stick around with my trusty 4 years old system for a while..
