In the stills world one can buy adapters to put nikon/nikkor lenses on canons

would this work in movie mode

would failure to comunicate aperture allow manual aperture control and therefore be a plus

my idea is you pic aptertue, then point the camera at something to gain correct brightness level then lock the exposure and roll

I have an adapter for Leica lens. Works perfectly in movie mode and lets me set aperture manually. Most of the times I use movie mode it's with Leica lens. Can't deal with automatic aperture of Canon lens. I suppose Nikkor lens would be the same with the adapter.

I can assure you that the video quality is amazing with my manual leica lens.

You can use your canon lenses as well you just need to cover up the contacts of the lens to shoot wide open. To shoot at a specific aperture you have to select the aperture you want in manual mode, click the DOF preview button while taking off the lens. After you do this cover up the contacts of the lens again.
