We just got a Panasonic AG-HMC150P camera and I have been trying to get FCP to recognize the clips in Log & Transfer without any luck at all. I shot using the PH 1080/30p mode with this AVCHD camera. When in the Log & Transfer window, I click on the "Add Folder" icon in the upper-left and select the root folder on the SDHC card. But FCP does not recognize anything and the clips do not list out in the L&T window. I have tried selecting the STREAM folder where the clips seem to be located, but nothing happens. I have also tried copying the entire content of the card over to my media drive and selecting the folder from there, but nothing gets recognized. I have FCP 6.0.5 with the latest OS X and Quicktime updates running on an intel-based 15" MacBook Pro.

dont select anything further than the "AVCHD" folder. select that folder, or the private folder, or even the folder that the private folder is in and hit open. if you go any further than the AVCHD folder it messes up the structure that the files need.

Thanks for your help, but no luck. I tried selecting the PRIVATE and AVCHD folders and none of them worked. I also tried trashing my FCP preferences and user data and restarting FCP, but no luck.

I got it to recognize once, but only after a reboot. I wanted to test it out, so I saved the project and re-opened the Log & Transfer window and the clips no longer could be recognized. I rebooted and once again, nothing recognized. This appears to be a VERY sketchy implementation of AVCHD! Utterly unreliable.

Are you still working with the media drive or the card? I had a bad card once that behaved similarly...

I copied the clips from the camera's memory card on to my external media hard drive. I finally got FCP to recognize my clips in the L&T browser. It took several reboots and seems to be very hokey, but at least I got the clips at last!

It is hokey... and sensitive.. I'm having the same problem with the log and transfer function on fcp. It won't recognize anything off the card I'm using, even after several reboots. I guess my card is just faulty... But wtf, it's worked in the past.

So I just got Toast Titanium but it is taking f'ing forever to convert my .mts clips to HDV1080i!! A lot longer than FCP does atleast... And when I click on the converted avi files and view them in quicktime full size they are pretty low quality. I've always wondered why that is.

Also I was wondering what other people's go to settings when converting mts files in Toast are? I just threw all up my clips in there off my 16gb card and they are a mix between 1080 and 720, but I chose the HDV 1080i export setting.
