I purchased two EX-1's in December '07 and January '08 and have been shooting with them ever since...an amazing camera in every respect. I never went to school or have ever taken a class on film, photography, lighting or editing. Everything i've done has been from researching on the web and playing around....so here's a reel of stuff I shot with the EX-1 over the last year and edited in FCP. No color correction was done for this. What you're looking at is what came out of the camera.

Everything here was shot with the Sony EX-1 except for one small clip. Kudos to whoever can guess which one, but its not obvious or important. Of the EX-1 shots, some of the scenes were utilizing a Letus Extreme, with an assortment of Canon prime lenses, mainly a 28mm.

All of the regular scenes were shot in 1080p 24 frames a second with the shutter set at 1/48th

All of the slow motion scenes were shot in 720p 24/60 frames a second with the shutter set at either 1/60th or 1/96th

Most of the time the F stop was anywhere from 2 to 4 with the ND filter being used.

Enjoy

Hi mate just to give you a bit more feedback on the showreel!

I'm not surely if its more a corporate showreel or creative etc? As a corporate showreel it works fairly well, it shows competence and technical control, with some very nice choreography and lighting. I would say though that it is perhaps a little overlong, and the range of shots (of medium shots/ close ups) and street shots etc do get a little repetitive. The music perhaps lends to repetition and also a kind of saccharine (i can never spell that word lol) perspective.

If its a creative showreel (ie cinematography) then its not very cinematic and woeful creatively in that respect (but im sure its not intended as that as you would comprise far more material from your creative work if it was.)

If you intend for the showreel to be a mix of corporate and creative i dont think it succeeds as that as it certainly comes across as pure corporate.

lol i type all that and reading more about your description i think this is just a kind of 'camera showreel' type thing you've made? lol anyway hope comments were slightly useful haha

Thanks for the feedback. Yes this was something i threw together on a boring week night, so to answer your question about if the reel is corporate/creative...i guess i never even thought of it that way. I simply threw together clips from various shoots...didn't even think about the repetition. You are right that it is on the long side.

However, with that said, I do appreciate the thoughts on it!

Cheers mate ah well that makes sense! You should post your corporate showreel and creative one your cam work is lovely!

That is my er more 'creative' type showreel though its kind of an ineffective hybrid of creative/corporate.

So im having to find myself making a slick corporate and then a raw creative showreel atm :)
