FCP Sluggish all the sudden

Out of the blue my FCP has been sluggish for some reason. I didn't change anything with RAM or video card yet but noticed tonight it has been slower than normal. I also noticed that when I start the application it starts with a brand new sequence and not the last open project even though I have it set to open to the last project! Could this be a sign that I need to trash my preferences?

Sounds like it.

You can also do some OSX maintenece - Restart in Safe Boot (hold shift while restarting), repair permissions (disc utility), rotate log files (macjanitor).

I do this regularly and it helps limit the SBBOD

I just learned to Trash FCP'S prefs. when it gets all wonky.

I don't remember the last time when FCP opened and my previous project came up. A new project always comes up, and never the one previous.

Trashing your prefs. could help a lot!

Well what I meant to say is if I am currently working on a project, it will open up to that project when I start up FCP but its been opening up to a clean timeline and sequence these last few times. I am going to trash the pref's and check out some of the other tips that was suggested.
